The fourth season of the game would see players having to get minimum buy-in's of $500. 000 compared to the regular $100, 000 minimum and this season racked in more than $5 million in play on the table at one time. The fourth season ended on the 17th of December 2007 and had a total of 17 episodes. The fifth season is coined to premier on the 19th of February 2009 and it will have some changes as there will be now an airing of every single hand played whilst prior seasons were only able to air up to about 70% of the hands played.

The game is not played in a tournament format, but is played in a ring format. Buy-in minimums are set but however players can always put in more than the buy-in minimum as for the past seasons some players have come forward with buy-in's as much as $1 million when minimum buy-in's were set at $100, 000. The game differs from normal poker in that the chips involved represent real money. If players lose all their buy-in monies they are allowed to re-buy themselves with a minimum of $50, 000 and players are allowed to use cash instead of chips. When players are using cash, the cash remains as cash in the pot and does not have to be changed into chips. The game show has a poker host alongside a poker analyst, and the players include professionals as well as armatures.

The game was actually created by executive producer Henry Orenstein and it is said that players were paid $1, 250 per hour for taking part in the 13 episodes of the show that consisted of 24 hours of play that was edited to shorter episodes of play.
